With appearances on LMAOF and at the Netflix Is A Joke Festival, plus the release of his stand-up special Life Rules!, 2024 really was Mike Glazer’s year. We talked to him about his journey from Team USA Olympic roller hockey hopeful to comedy powerhouse, and much more, in this exclusive interview.
When did you decide to start pursuing comedy?
After I won a gold medal with Team USA, I went back to the Olympic Training Center and realized that my dreams were dashed. I certainly wasn't gonna wait another four years to see if roller hockey would come back.
So it was like the universe was telling me that my roller hockey career was over. And so I was like, well, I'm gonna retire. That's the end of this.
Then I was like, “What's the safest career I can get into after roller hockey? Oh. Comedy.”
You performed at Netflix Is a Joke, released a new comedy special, and taped an LMAOF. Is 2024 the year of Mike Glazer?
This has just been the best year. I just finished touring. I'm gonna go back on tour. My comedy is better than it's ever been because it's more honest than it's ever been.

I finally have enough space from these stories that actually happened to me. I feel like I can talk about them and not feel like I'm trauma dumping on a bunch of strangers, where they're like:
"Hey, dude. Maybe you should talk about this in therapy instead of with those of us who paid $25 to see you."
So, I'm actually able to tell true stories that I believe in. And the metamorphosis is not complete, but I definitely have new wins. There's no doubt about it.
What was it like recording your LMAOF special?
I've never been a part of a more professional comedy shoot than the OnlyFans comedy shoot. And that's just the truth.
They had the crowd mic'd. They did, like, cutaways. They sent me the edits to ask me what I thought of them so that I had complete control over my own opportunity.
Where else are you gonna get that?
Any advice for up-and-coming comedians?
My advice would be: nobody cares, so do whatever you want. Take a big swing. Say the thing you’re scared to say.
And then, all of a sudden, you're going to become a massive huge hit. And then everyone cares.
And you're going to be like, "Where were you when I was figuring this all out?" So just do whatever you want. You'll find your people and they'll find you.
How will you know when you've finally "made it"?
All I've ever said is all I want is enough money where I can take all my friends to a fancy Michelin-starred restaurant and get everybody home safely in Ubers.
That's it for me. That's all I need.
