Warning: spoilers ahead.
S4E1: French Omelette & French Toast
Luna Star and Cherie DeVille kick off season four with a trip to France when Chef Jojo challenges them to make French omelets and French toast.
Both contestants start with French toast before turning their attention to the notoriously delicate omelets. Trouble hits quickly when Chef Jojo discovers burnt bottoms on both attempts, forcing them back to square one.
Cherie takes a risk by deep-frying her French toast, while Luna struggles with the simplicity of classic French cooking.
With precious minutes left, Chef Jojo demonstrates his omelet technique, helping both contestants barely get their dishes plated before the clock fully runs out.
Cherie earns praise for the texture of her omelet, though her French toast could have used more sweetness.
Luna’s dish has a few burnt edges, but her flavors ultimately win Chef Jojo over, sending her to the semifinals.
S4E2: Loco Moco
Keiran Lee and Asa Akira bring plenty of history into the kitchen, and Chef Jojo wastes no time throwing them into a Hawaiian Loco Moco challenge.
While Keiran feels confident about seasoning his meat, Asa looks far less certain once the cooking begins.
The two bounce between trash talk and accidental teamwork as they try to juggle rice, gravy, burgers, and eggs all at once. Timing quickly becomes the biggest problem, forcing Chef Jojo to repeatedly step in and keep them moving.
In spite of everything, both manage to get their plates finished before time runs out.
Asa’s Loco Moco earns praise for its presentation, rice, and meat, though her sauce ends up too acidic.
Unfortunately for Keiran, Chef Jojo finds his dish under-seasoned and his race nearly inedible.
In the end, Asa comes away with the win. However, she'll need to step it up in the semifinals.
S4E3: Gourmet Grilled Cheese
Lena the Plug and Dani Daniels enter the kitchen thinking grilled cheese and tomato soup sounds simple enough, but Chef Jojo quickly proves otherwise.
Lena builds her tomato soup completely from scratch, while Dani opts to repurpose a pasta sauce recipe.
For the sandwiches, Dani sticks with American cheese for maximum meltiness while Lena ups the stakes with bacon. Dani also takes the opportunity to unveil her signature “Rub and Tug” seasoning.
As time winds down, Dani tries to psych Lena out by pretending she's already finished and that Lena is woefully behind. It nearly works.
Dani’s grilled cheese earns praise for its crunch and balanced flavors. Meanwhile, Lena’s bacon-packed sandwich and rich tomato soup leave a strong impression of their own.
Faced with his first tough choice of the season, Chef Jojo goes back for second bites.
Finally, he announces Dani is the winner.
S4E4: Fish & Chips
Eva Elfie and Joanna Angel take on a British pub fare classic: fish and chips.
Joanna approaches the kitchen with confidence, cracking open a beer for her batter. On the other hand, Eva has never even heard of the dish before.
Nonetheless, Eva impresses Chef Jojo early with her knife work on the potatoes. However, things take a turn when she slices her finger mid-challenge.
Meanwhile, Joanna’s station gets more and more chaotic as she struggles to get her fried fish under control.
When time is finally up, even Chef Jojo looks stressed enough to need a beer of his own.
Joanna’s fish earns praise for its flaky texture. However, her tartar sauce leans too heavily on mayo and her fries resemble mashed potatoes more than chips.
Eva’s fish ends up overcooked and her fries burnt, but her presentation and persistence leave a strong impression.
Both dishes are far from perfect, but Eva does just enough to move on to the semifinals.
S4E5: Curry With Homemade Naan
The semifinals bring Luna Star and Asa Akira back into Chef Jojo’s kitchen, this time for curry and homemade naan.
Luna comes prepared with a secret spice blend from home, while Asa takes a risk with tofu and a mango chutney she's never made before.
Chef Jojo repeatedly reminds both contestants that strong seasoning will make or break the challenge.
As the clock winds down, both competitors realize they’ve forgotten one of the most core components: naan.
With their flatbreads finally on the grill, Luna and Asa rush to finish plating. Surprisingly, both deliver some of the strongest presentations of season 4.
Luna’s curry impresses Chef Jojo with bold spice and flavor. This is particularly impressive, considering she didn't know what naan was at the start of the challenge.
Asa’s mango chutney turns out to be a standout, but her under-seasoned curry and undercooked naan hold her back.
Luna advances to the finals, locking in an extra $5,000.
S4E6: Ravioli with Mushrooms
Dani Daniels and Eva Elfie return for an extra challenging semifinals: homemade ravioli with wild mushrooms.
Dani immediately looks comfortable working with Italian flavors, while Eva admits her experience mostly comes from ordering pasta at restaurants.
The gap in confidence becomes obvious once the cooking starts. While Dani calmly moves through the challenge (using up all the ricotta while she's at it), Eva struggles with the pasta machine and needs multiple assists from Chef Jojo.
Dani wonders if Eva's real kitchen skill is actually Chef Jojo, after he salvages her sauce.
Dani finishes her ravioli with a flourish: caviar and fried sage. Heading into the judging, she seems to have a massive advantage over Eva.
The tasting only widens the gap. Dani’s dish earns overwhelming praise for every component.
However, Eva still manages to impress Chef Jojo despite her struggles throughout the challenge.
Nobody is surprised that Dani cruises into the finale.
S4E7: Venison with Blackerry Sauce
It all comes down to Luna Star and Dani Daniels. Their final challenge: venison with blackberry wine sauce.
Both Luna and Dani are instantly intimidated by the notoriously delicate and easy-to-overcook meat.
Luna plans to play it safe with smaller cuts of venison while Dani commits to cooking a full steak.
Unfortunately, trouble hits Luna early when she has to completely restart her blackberry sauce. Meanwhile, Dani steadily pulls ahead as Luna worries her meat medallions may already be overcooked.
Dani and Luna finish the challenge with time to spare.
Dani, who flexes by pouring her sauce tableside for Chef Jojo, earns praise for how her steak is cooked. Chef Jojo wishes it had a bit more seasoning, however.
Luna counters with bold Cuban-inspired flavors, a standout purée, and perfectly cooked venison that immediately impresses Chef Jojo
After one final tense deliberation, Luna Star is crowned the This Is Fire Season 4 Champion. Now, is she ready to take on Riley Reid from season 3?
Superfinals: Mediterranean Branzino
Season four champion Luna Star returns for the Superfinals to face Riley Reid in the ultimate $10K challenge: Mediterranean branzino with orzo. And, for the first time, Chef Jojo is expecting dessert.
Riley decides to keep things bright with her dessert: a tart passionfruit sorbet. Meanwhile, Luna leans into Chef Jojo’s love of berry flavors by building her dessert around strawberry jam.
As for the savory components, Luna builds a bold spice blend for her fish. Riley puts extra focus into perfect her orzo.
When time is up, Chef Jojo is clearly happy with the presentation of both plates.
Riley delivers beautifully cooked fish and orzo, though Chef Jojo finds the dish under-seasoned overall. Her passionfruit sorbet, however, becomes one of the highlights of the episode.
Luna’s seasoning and layered flavors win Chef Jojo over across the board, from her fish and orzo to her strawberry sorbet.
By the end of the battle, Luna Star officially claims the title of This Is Fire Grand Champion.
