All eyes were on the OnlyFans American Racing Team (OART) heading into its third race of the year on April 14. As the only U.S.-based team competing in the 2024 Moto2 season, OART came home to race at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas—the series’ only track on American soil. Naturally, expectations were high for teammates Joe Roberts and Marcos Ramirez to deliver a strong performance, and they did just that. Keep reading for more on how OART nabbed a podium finish at the Red Bull Grand Prix of the Americas.
The Race
OART’s decision last year to shake up its roster and bring back American Joe Roberts for 2024 is paying off. Weeks before the Red Bull Grand Prix, Joe nabbed OART’s first podium of the year when he took second place in Portugal.
Thanks to his impressive racing skills, Joe climbed to number two in the standings within the first two events of 2024.
And in Austin, Joe had a nearly impeccable race throughout.
The crowd jumped to its feet when Joe began to match pace with frontrunner Sergio García of Spain.
Unfortunately, Joe took turn 12 a bit too wide, allowing Spain’s Fermín Aldeguer to overtake him.
Joe didn’t stay behind for long. With two laps left, he battled his way past Aldeguer to reclaim second position.
Although García ultimately walked away with the victory, brake troubles plagued him in the final third of the race, causing him to lose most of his substantial lead.
By the time he crossed the finish line, Joe was just under half a second behind García. It’s easy to imagine that, were it not for his turn 12 miscalculation, Joe could have claimed first.
Speculation aside, his performance at the Red Bull Grand Prix earned Joe his second consecutive podium finish—a first for the talented racer.
For his part, teammate Marcos Ramirez secured an impressive fifth-place finish, which helped boost the team into second position overall.
Next, Joe and Marcos head to Spain for the Gran Premio Estrella Galicia on April 28.
At this rate, fans might see both of them on the podium.
