Talking with Hagen Smith, you wouldn't immediately guess he's the son of a volleyball legend. He carries himself without the weight of expectation, focused instead on the work in front of him. That doesn't mean he's unaware of his legacy or where he wants to go. As a California beach volleyball standout and OnlyFans athlete, Hagen is clear about his goals, the skills that matter most, and the path he's carving toward the 2028 Games. We sat down with him to talk serving, legacy, lifestyle, and what drives him forward.
Hagen Smith Interview

What did ranking #1 in the world feel like?
We held that number one spot in the AVP for a while in the 2025 season. We were technically rookies in the AVP League, even though we've been on the scene for a little bit. That was awesome. We came out there and the style of play really suited us and we just ran with it.
Is there a match in your career that really stands out to you?
Our first matches in the league this year, we played both of the U.S. Olympic teams, and we went out there and we beat them, and that helped us stay number one on the leaderboard.
And those were huge because it was our first introduction into AVP League play. We went out there and we felt comfortable in what we've done to get to that place. I tend to play off the crowd rather well so I could feel the energy. Being inside it just amplified the cheering with just all eyes on us. I could feel the fire of that. So that was pretty great.
What's the single-most important skill for a beach volleyball player to have?
Serving is the one thing that the individual athlete can take care of fully by himself. To pass, you have to pass someone else's serve. To set, you have to set someone else's pass.
But when it comes down to serving, it's the one thing that you control and that will give you the opportunity to score real points.
How long have you been playing with Logan Webber?
So, Logan and I have been playing together for, I think this is our third calendar year. And we had that little honeymoon period. And we've been battling and trying to figure out what is our best, to continue to get better and push for an LA 2028 Olympic berth. It's been awesome.
We've grown as people together. We've grown as partners together. He's trusted me in the systems that we've adopted. If we're playing at our best, we're very, very, very hard to beat.

Being from LA, what would competing in your hometown's Olympics mean to you?
I've had Olympic aspirations my entire life, and having it be at home would be unbelievable because I hope everybody I know would come out and cheer me on. Just to be able to be a part of the Olympic journey and have that be at home would be a dream come true times a billion.
How would you describe your father, Sinjin Smith, to new fans?
I compare him to the Michael Jordan of beach volleyball. And then that's just with his play and his influence into where the game has landed.
One of the first beach volleyball athletes for the US to just absolutely dominate. He and his partner, Randy Stoklos, are the winningest team in the world, with over 100 victories together. And then my dad had over 140 individual victories as well.
Without him and his efforts on and off the court, beach volleyball wouldn't be where it is today.
What's the pro beach volleyball life like?
Very much what you expect. We have the best office ever in any sport. We take it for granted sometimes because it is still our job and still work. But we're on the beach and I go and I jump in the ocean after every practice.
There's very few events that I've gone to, or rather, that I've brought people to, that they haven't just been like, “Oh my God, this is the coolest atmosphere ever.” Drinking beer, music's pumping, great DJs... everyone's there to have fun.
Then it's just beach and everyone's just as chill as can be.
How has OF changed the game for you?
The help from the platform and the community of athletes that's growing there, which I'm excited to keep being a part of and, ideally, help move things forward and get more cross-athlete involvement. Either on my channel, on their channel, or as a whole via OnlyFans.

As an athlete, I'm so grateful for the support that we can get. I want to make that clear to everybody: go help your athletes out there pursuing their dream and ideally adding that entertainment for you as well. So it's a symbiotic relationship.
What can we expect to see on your OF?
You'll see a lot more of my volleyball, or of that day-to-day life of what I do and how we make it work. We just roll with the punches quite a bit. A little more insight into how I think as an athlete, and my play.
Anything you'd like to say to your fans?
Keep watching, keep reaching out. I'm always down to just let you into more of my life and having those conversations also helps me think about things differently.
And so as much as I'm going out there and providing a service, being that entertainment value for you guys, it also helps me in my journey as well.
